To keep Zumwalt open to the public, FOZP agreed to help Lane County Parks Dept. by keeping the park mowed regularly. After 9 years, the county has offered to resume mowing at Zumwalt, as it does regularly throughout the summer at the three other parks around Fern Ridge Reservoir. This has enabled us to focus our time on other projects such as bank stabilization, woodland trail restoration, and removal of invasive species. We still need volunteers to join our regular work parties! These sessions are planned in conjunction with LCPD to address priorities within the park that would otherwise go unattended to. We hold work parties about twice every month, and they are a fun way to get involved in the park community and get active out in the fresh air. Please get involved! Upcoming work dates will be posted on the web calendar and the notice board inside the park.
