FOZP organized work parties during February and March 2017 to help clear up the damage after the winter ice storms, Over 50 volunteers participated, and contributed over 320 man hours. This was rewarded with a FEMA grant exceeding $5,000, which will be reinvested in park maintenance. FOZP and LCPD are extremely grateful to all who gave their time and energy to the clean-up mission!  Although the entire top of the Ellmaker Oak tree was lost (as seen in this photograph), arborists expect it to survive, The incense cedar also lost a large bough during the spring wind storms, but most of the tree remains intact.
