The Oregon Heritage Tree dedication ceremony took place on April 11th, 2014 hosted by Oregon Travel Experience in partnership with Friends of Zumwalt Park. The successful nomination was the result of much dedicated work on the part of Lauri Holts and Megan Clark. The Ellmaker Heritage Grove is commemorated by a plaque erected close to the giant oak tree. The grove incorporates the oak itself, the nearby Incense Cedar and the avenue of Bigleaf Maples.
There was a good turn-out on the day, including two second grade classes from Veneta Elementary school. The sun shone, although there was a cold wind blowing off the lake. Representatives from the OR Heritage Tree Committee made speeches, and historical insight was presented by local historian Doug Card, and Megan Clark, the great, great granddaughter of Enos and Elizabeth Ellmaker who originally settled the land. Photos of the event can be viewed on the Oregon Heritage Tree and Historical Marker Facebook page.
